Australia's burning, excluding the North and the West

昨年9月からのクインズランド、ニューサウスウェールズ、ビクトリア、南オーストラリアでの広範囲にわたるブッシュファイアー、まだ完全に鎮火していません。連日のニュースの映像で心を痛めております。少額ながら寄付もさせていただきました。しかし、世界的には「オーストラリアが燃えている」とあたかもオーストラリア全土が火事のような印象を与えてしまっており、テレビ番組の影響もあってパースに住む私にも日本から「大丈夫?」というメッセージが来ます。アメリカ政府も渡豪自粛を呼びかけたりして。でも、観光に影響があるのは一部の地域なのです。他の地域への旅行を計画しておられる方は正しい情報を得て、是非いらしていただきたいと思います。今週は東海岸で雨が降る予報。消火されるよう祈ります。

The bushfires since September last year still haven't been extinguished totally. The disturbing images and videos on everyday's news hurt my feeling a lot. Meanwhile, I am receiving messages from friends in overseas worrying about the influence, even I live in Perth. I'm afraid the words "Australia is burning" gives an impression to the world as if the whole nation is affected including NT and WA where are far from the subjected area. The US has issued an official warning against travelling to Australia. I hope people who are planning to come to Australia seek for the correct information about where is affected by the bushfires and do not cancel it all together blindly. I pray for the people and animals affected, and wish the upcoming rain will finish the fire off.
