母がスマートフォンを入手しました。ガラケーはもうじき使えなくなるから(ほんとかしらね？)とドコモの人に言いくるめられたとか。それで、家族や友達とLINEでつながりたいみたいですが、当然手も足も出ず。ドコモも店の方針でLINEは断固として教えてくれないらしい。で、私がスカイプを通して手伝うことに。もう上へ下への大騒ぎでした。
「ちょっと画面見せて...ちがーう、自分じゃなくてカメラに見せてったら！」
「(画面をカメラにかざしてもらいながら)読めないからじっとしててよっ！」「そんなこと言われたって...」
「見えないよぅ。メニューはなんて書いてあるの？」「メニューってなに？」
「あ、なんかおかしくなっちゃった」「もーぅ、どっかへんなとこさわったでしょっ」
最後はもう怒鳴りあいです。オーストラリアはWhatsAppが主流なので、LINEは私も初心者。わからん同士でよく何とかできたものです。お母さん、８０歳手前にしては上出来だよ。

My mother in Japan has got a new smartphone recently, and is struggling on setting LINE app. For some reason, the shop attendant refused to help her to set up that particular app (perhaps because it belongs to their competitor?), so I had to give my hand to her over Skype. Can you imagine how bl**dy hard it was to instruct her through it?!
"Let me see your screen.. Nooo! Show it to the CAMERA, not to yourself!!"
"Don't move! I can't read!!" "I'm trying!!!"
"I can't see the menus. Can you read out?" "What is menu?"
"Oh nooo! That's gone!" "Because you must have touched something wrong!"
We were yelling out each other in the end. I still don't know how come we could get there finally, but now it's working. Well done Mum! It's not too bad for a nearly-eighty woman.
