Long or short? Ten years since The, Great Perth Hail

10年前の3月22日月曜日、パースは穏やかな秋晴れから一転悪夢のような嵐と雹に襲われました。ほんとにゴルフボールぐらいの見たこともないようなものすごい雹で、パース中の建物や車が大変なダメージを受けた日です。実は私はその前の日に盲腸炎になり、その日の朝に手術を受けました。嵐の前ぎりぎりのすべりこみでした。その病院はパースでも最大級の被害を受けた場所で、水漏れやら停電やらの中でスタッフが身を粉にしてきびきび働いていたのを手術後のおぼろげな意識で覚えています。そして今、縁あって私自身がその病院で働いています。あれから10年、長いような短かったような。

It's been ten years since the great Perth hail day. I remember it started as a beautiful day until suddenly turned to be a catastrophic storm with golf-ball size hail falling onto the whole city costing astronomic amount of damage of buidlings and cars. Actually, I was hospitalised the day before and underwent the appendix operation on that very morning. I was very lucky to be squeezed in before the event happened because that hospital was in the middle of the epi-centre and all the operations were cancelled after that. Even my memory was not clear then as I was still under anaesthetics, I remember all staff did extraordinary jobs in such a severe circumstance. Ten years on, I am working for that hospital - time flied, but also feels so long time ago.
