Flooded with calls, hungry patients, have no patience

病棟で朝食を配膳している時間はだいたいにおいて医師団の朝の検診が行われている時間とぶつかります。ドクターがそこで食事制限を変更すると用意した朝食のメニューを変えたり追加したりしなければなりません。たいていは絶食患者が食事を許されるパターンなので、空きっ腹をかかえた患者さんたちはあまり待たせるとご機嫌を損ねてしまうのです。今朝はこれがいつになく多くて私のページャーは鳴りっぱなし。もうてんやわんやで、しかも遅いと文句を言われる、泣きっ面に蜂状態でした。まあ、こんな日もありますね。

When distributing breakfast at the hospital wards, very often it clashes with the doctors' round. Then the doctors sometimes change patient's diet, most likely from fasting to allowing food. If this happens, we have to arrange their meals on the spot, which isn't always easy and available. As those patients are often starving, they get frustrated if they found we cannot give them food straight away. Today, it happened for countless patients - the worst day ever. My pager wouldn't stop ringing from nurses wanting new meals and complaining as I'm too slow. I felt like being pulled from six different directions. But, well, it's just another busy day..
