Plain clothes day, an opportunity to, stand out of all

プレインクローズデイとは普段制服を着ている人が1日だけ私服を着る自由をもらう代わりに慈善やキャンペーンなどに寄付をするというという、たぶんオーストラリア独特のイベントのことです。病院勤務者や、制服のある学校の生徒、電車やバスの運転手、さらには警察官まで、いろいろな理由でキャンペーンを張ります。今日はうちの病院ではブッシュファイアーの寄付金集めのためのプレインクローズデイでした。うーん、派手。完全に弾けちゃってます。でもこういうノリは職場の雰囲気に左右されるようです。前に警察署に務めていたときはみーんな判で押したようにジーンズでした。まるで制服みたいに。

Today was the plain clothes day for our hospital for donation to the bushfire fighters. This reveals one's character indeed. Some of my colleagues wore really loud and bright to stand out of others. However, I think it has got to do with the character of the work place  itself - when I was working at the Police HQ, everyone turned up in jeans - as if that were the uniform.
