New Year's Day, a special day only if you make it so

正月も三が日が過ぎようとしていますが、我が家は2人とも仕事があり、全く普段と変わらずスペシャル感ゼロの日々です。今までは毎年クリスマスから新年にかけてメルボルンの義両親の所に行っていたのでそれなりにお祝いムードでしたが、あれは義母がいろいろ気を配ってスペシャルになるよう盛り上げてくれていたのだと改めて思うのでした。

In my household both of us have been working through Christmas to New Year this year, so we did not celebrate New Year Eve/Day at all but had just another ordinary day. We normally spend the festive season with the extended family in Melbourne then I felt fully the Christmas-End-of-Year mood all the time in the house - now I realise it was purely thanks to my mother-in-law's great effort to make it feel like so.
