Home maintenance, when it's fixed then another breaks next

築50年ほどの古いタウンハウスに住んでいます。まあ次々にいろいろ壊れることといったら。今月はブラインドの修理、ダウンライトの修理が重なって$200余りが飛んでいきました。こちらの業者は時給が高く、どんなにちょっとした修理でも、たとえ10分で終わってしまっても、＄100を下ることはまずありません。オーストラリア人はハンディマンが多く、ちょっとした修理なら自分でできる人が多いですが、このコストが浮くとなると頑張っちゃいますよね。でも不器用な私達には無理なので仕方ないな。

Our over-fifty-year-old townhouse is becoming high maintenance - troubles and break-downs one after another. I had to fix a blind, then a down light transformer this month only, costing us over $200 for 10 minutes jobs each! I know many Aussies are quite handy-men and able to fix a variety of troubles by themselves - good on them as they save this much money! But we are not that type so no choice..
