Departure floor, joy and sadness, tense and relief

これやこの行くも帰るも別れては知るも知らぬも逢坂の関　蝉丸

空港に来るとこの歌を思い出します。関所は千年以上前の国際空港といったところでしょうか。ホリデーに出かける人、ホリデーが終わって帰る人、仕事の出張、出張帰りでほっとした面持ちの人、その他のいろいろな状況の人々。再会と別れ。

This is my translation of a classic Tanka poem I always recall when I come to the airport.
It describes exactly like the modern airport even this poem was composed more than a thousand years ago. Maybe not very surprising as The Checkpoint then served as an international airport.
